Welcome to Keene Pottery, a small-batch ceramic design studio where I develop cheerful products to brighten your day. From my tiny, sunlit rowhome studio in Philadelphia, I work with stoneware clay to create durable, high-quality products designed to inspire positivity. I’m convinced color has the power to influence our emotions, which is why I use a bright cheerful palette to enliven & illuminate the space around us. Through vibrant hues on handmade goods, I strive to infuse the world with energy & brightness.

With Earth friendly production habits and at least 5% of all sales donated to local non-profit organizations in my community of Kensington, I aim to make the best products possible. I labor over my designs until I am fully happy with the way it looks & functions, then relish in the repetition of making them & continually refining my techniques to bring new ideas to life.

Meet designer & ceramicist, Jess Keene

I’m a 3D designer with 20+ years of experience and a love of working with clay. My passion for making pottery began in high school and persisted through college at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. I started renting studio time at Fleisher Art Memorial and slowly over time I have been building my own studio, bit by bit. For the past decade, I've lent my expertise to numerous Fortune 500 companies, enhancing their packaging as a 3D designer, consultant, and model maker. Throughout my career, I've generated countless ideas, resulting in many successful projects on grocery shelves worldwide and numerous filed patents.

I have a penchant for clean lines and contemporary simplicity, which extends into my design aesthetic. My "happy place" is the Caribbean, influencing my work through the incorporation of soothing blues, refreshing greens, and vibrant splashes of color. When I'm not immersed in my studio or daydreaming of tropical shores, you'll likely find me playing with my two adorable pups or exploring the diverse culinary scene of Philadelphia with friends.
